Robert A. Carlson, M.D.
Dr. Robert A. Carlson is President of Marshfield Food Safety, LLC. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Medical School where he also completed a pathology residency. He is a Diplomate of The American Board of Pathology in anatomic and clinical pathology. Dr. Carlson has been with Marshfield Clinic since 1987. He has served in a number of positions at Marshfield Clinic, including Chairman of the Department of Pathology, Medical Director of Corporate Communications, Section Head of Clinical Chemistry, Section Head of the Reference Laboratory and Director of the Division of Laboratory Medicine. Dr. Carlson has had oversight not only of clinical laboratory services, but also has been responsible for the coordination of Molecular Diagnostic Services and for DNA storage in the Personalized Medicine Research Project. Currently he is Director of Applied Sciences at Marshfield Clinic and is committee chair of Marshfield Clinic’s Technology Transfer Committee. In addition to these responsibilities, Dr. Carlson currently serves as President of the Wisconsin Security Research Consortium, Inc. (WSRC); Executive Board Member of Wisconsin Technology Council, Inc. (WTC); and Board Member of Wisconsin Biotechnology & Medical Device Association (WBMA).
Roy P. Radcliff, Ph.D.
Dr. Roy P. Radcliff is the Chief Scientific Officer for Marshfield Food Safety, LLC and Director of Food Safety Services at Marshfield Clinic in Marshfield, Wisconsin. He received a BS degree in Animal and Veterinary Science from West Virginia University in 1993, his MS degree in 1995 from Michigan State University and his Ph.D. in 2001 from Michigan State University. He spent two and a half years at the University of Missouri where he developed a quantitative real-time PCR assay for growth hormone receptor mRNA. He joined Marshfield Clinic Laboratories Food Safety Services in 2004 where his research focused on pathogens and pathogen detection methods, diagnosis of Johne’s disease in cattle and diagnosis of zoonotic diseases. In 2004 he accepted the Laboratory Manager position in addition to his research responsibilities and in 2006 accepted the position of Director of Food Safety Services. He now oversees the daily operations of the Marshfield Food Safety laboratory in Marshfield, WI, and continues to conduct research relating to food pathogen detection and evaluation of emerging detection technologies.
Stephen A. Barnett
Stephen Barnett is the Chief Operating Officer for Marshfield Food Safety, LL C. He was Manager of Technical Services, Quality Assurance for Bristol Myers-Squibb for 17 years prior to co-founding a technologically unique tandem mass spectrometry lab operation serving the CPL Dioxin Site Programs within USEPA. Since then he has managed the design, construction, staffing and start up of multiple laboratory operations for both US and European clients. These lab operations have provided support to clients in the food processing industry, automotive and steel industry, Pharmacueticals, and mining. He is also President and founder of Process Support Services, a consulting firm specializing in process control problem solving support and new business development for technology based industries. He has extensive experience in the laboratory business, specializing in solutions via instrumental chemistry. He has published technology describing the determination of trace micronutrients in natural matrices, has served as Technical Consultant for Price Waterhouse Coopers, and has served as Associate Referee in the AOAC, coordinating International Collaborative Studies with counterparts at the CFSAN. He has a BA degree in Chemistry from the University of Evansville.
Larry C. Bowman
Larry Bowman is Chief Information Officer with Marshfield Food Safety, LL C. He received a BS in Risk Management and MS degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. In addition he has attended Executive Development at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill NC. He has worked as a Business Unit Manager for Ivan Allen Company, a Division General Manager for Genuine Parts Company, Vice President of Software and Technology for CCS, Inc. Mr Bowman has successfully guided the development and marketing of a number of Software and Technology products. Mr Bowman has been recognized for his work with developing International Markets by the Virginia Trade Commission. He has lectured for the Small Business Administration, Virginia Tech and others on subjects such as Marketing, International Business, Personnel Administration and Entrepreneurial Technology. He was a primary presenter at the International Congress on Business held in Monterrey Mexico. Mr Bowman has consulted with numerous organizations including the Department of Defense, U. S. Navy and GE. He has directed mergers, restructuring strategies, profit enhancement, and Marketing/Sales projects for numerous public and private enterprises.
Frances M. Moore, D.V.M.
Dr. Frances Moore is Director of Marshfield Labs, veterinary services. She is a graduate from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. She was in small and large animal practice before completing a postdoctoral fellowship in comparative pathology at Harvard Medical School. She was an assistant professor in pathology at Harvard Medical School and at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine, and was formerly the director of the clinical pathology laboratory at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital. She is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists in both anatomic and clinical pathology. She has achieved the HACCP Coordinator Certificate from North Carolina State University and is currently enrolled in the University of Wisconsin Global Health Certificate course. She has been Director of Marshfield Labs, veterinary services since the inception of this service in 1991. Her professional interests are in infectious and zoonotic diseases. She has initiated an educational program for slaughterhouse workers for lesion recognition in hogs. She participated with faculty of the University of Wisconsin Center for Global Health in multidisciplinary professional exchanges with the Universidad de Guadalajara (UDG) and has initiated programs between the UDG and the Marshfield Clinic. Currently she is collaborating with the UDG in developing laboratory capacity for diagnosis of infectious disease problems in humans, animals and food products in Mexico.
Donna M. Hertzke, D.V.M., Ph.D.
Dr. Donna Hertzke is Assistant Director, Marshfield Labs, veterinary services. She is a graduate of Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She was in small animal and equine practice prior to completing postdoctoral training at Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine where she received her PhD degree. She was a staff pathologist at Kansas State University prior to joining the staff at Marshfield Clinic. Dr. Hertzke is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists in anatomic pathology.
